Generation Unlimited Bangladesh –National Steering Committee Meeting Held

The Generation Unlimited (GenU) Steering Committee Meeting was held on 13 December 2020 via Zoom web conferencing. The meeting focused on reintroduction and recommit existing and potential new steering committee members to GenU Bangladesh, exploring the role of business for future workforce skills and discussing ways forward /Next Steps for GenU Bangladesh. Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Chair Generation Unlimited, start the session by inviting Ms. Jahnabi Rahman, Captain Earth One of this year’s Global GenU Challenge to  share her experience with GenU Challenge. Then Ms. Mia Seppo, UN Resident Coordinator, delivered her relevant thoughts. Then Opening remarks on overall purpose and vision of GenU Bangladesh was presented by the chair. Then an effective session on Connecting Young People to Employment Opportunities – Future Workforce Skills and the Role of Business, taken place in which Ms. Nihad Kabir, Chairwoman MCCI discussed the issue from different points of view. Following her remarks Mr. Asad-Uz-Zaman, Head, Future of Work Lab, a2i delivered a presentation on The Post covid job market in Bangladesh and Ms. Tasmiah Tabassum from BRAC delivered a presentation on Connecting Supply to Demand in One Emerging Sector: Home Based Supplementary Health Care Services. In the next stage a zoom break out room session was held where participants input their thoughts in two groups: Group 1: Developing skills in post COVID-19 emerging sectors? (GenU Target 4, 5 and 8) and Group 2: Transferrable skills, youth Led Innovation and Engagement: (GenU Target 2, 4 and 6). Finally two groups uniquely presented their group thought the whole meeting. The meeting concluded with the moderated session titled: GenU Bangladesh Next Steps, moderated by Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor, a2i.
