Interactive webinar held on “Food security and SMART villages”
A webinar was successfully held on 2nd July, 2020 on “Food security and SMART villages” under the webinar series: Building Digital Resilience to Support COVID-19 Pandemic Response and Recovery.
The session focused on disruptions to food production and logistics would worsen due to COVID-19 emergencies. Rural areas in Africa have sustained the food production despite the challenges in access to infrastructure, services and information. The participants opined on the way forward against the COVID-
19 crisis regarding how can villages be equipped to enhance their resilience with technology. Opening remarks of the session made by Institute of Electrical and Electronics (IEEE); United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC); Minister of Communication, Republic of Ghana. Under moderation of Institute of Electrical and Electronics (IEEE), the participants were from: Banglades, India, Nepal, FAO, eWWG. This session summarized the salient points emanating from the 6 sessions and aims to develop partnerships and concrete action plans. The outcome will be captured in a summary report and be posted on the IEEE website.
