Date:    8th October 2020, Time: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm BST (Bangladesh Standard Time)

Organized by: Aspire to Innovate (a2i) in collaboration with World Economic Forum (WEF)

 Context

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has forced the world to bow down from all sectors of development including public administration, health care systems, education, businesses and economies. The education sector is one of the worst sufferers. It has forced the educational institutes to remain closed for indefinite time, hampering regular academic activities.

However, using the tools of digital technology Bangladesh is handling the situation quite well. The relevant ministries, teachers and educators responded in the shortest amount of time to come up with an Education Continuation Plan & started continuing regular academic activities using digital platforms. This Corona pandemic despite of having all its negative impact paved the way to understand how emergency the digital transformation of education is!  Apart from the situation and demand created by the pandemic, as the education sector becomes more competitive, digital transformation is now becoming a necessary means of survival as this new digital world requires educators to adapt and adopt digital technologies, methodologies and mindsets.

In this context, to determine academics’ and concerned multistakeholders’ views on digital transformation in education, The World Economic Forum has created Regional Action Groups (RAGs) along with high-level multistakeholder communities of regional leaders, to facilitate dialogue and public-private collaboration, build regional resilience and develop a coordinated regional response to fight the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact.

In order to identify the focus areas within the education sector, as a collaborator of the Working Group, Aspire to Innovate (a2i) is keen to organize a virtual Brainstorming Session on Digital Transformation Priorities in Education Sector in Bangladesh on 08 October 2020 from 03:00 hours BST to aggregate insights from relevant stakeholders in Bangladesh.
